Donna Walker

Donna Walker grew up in Indiana and has lived in Illinois, Michigan, and now Fort Worth, TX. Her paintings celebrate the rural landscape, interpreted in her own way with simplified shapes, abstractions, and unique color. She creates a Modern Americana, but also enjoys painting scenes from her travels abroad, capturing what defines a place, a home, a dwelling… Her work is colorful and unique with bold texture and shapes created with palette knives. Donna earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Illinois Wesleyan University and a Masters of Fine Arts from the University of Michigan, studying painting and printmaking. She worked for years as an assistant art conservator, often working on large mural projects, including Dallas Fair Park. Donna recently had a solo exhibition, “Modern Color Fields” at the Bone Creek Museum of Agrarian Art, and her work is in the collection of BNSF Railway, Hyundai Corporation, Win-Sam, the Samaritan House of Fort Worth, and the Fort Worth Club. “Living near farms and ranches has made me aware of the beauty of the land and helped me define my subject matter. I appreciate the ideals of simple craft, and hard work. Creating a simplified composition is a balancing act; my goal is to remove what is not needed, leaving only the few elements that create a harmonious painting.”
