Nashville, Tennessee-based abstract artist Martica Griffin uses energetic lines, organic structures, geometric forms and sensual colors to create her works. Her paintings are inspired by her surroundings with a big dose of music in the mix. The foundation of each work is intuitive line overlaid with a color grid. Layer upon layer, the pieces are scraped, drawn over, and repainted in search of the unpredictable, the awkward and the beautiful.
A native of Valdosta, Georgia, Griffin graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting. She has done post-graduate work at the School for Visual Arts in New York and studied with internationally acclaimed painters. Her work resides in various public and private collections.
